Special portrait lens with adjustable bokeh effect.
The Laowa STF 105mm f/2.0 (T3.2) has an unusual optical design, with STF standing for Smooth Trans Focus. In addition to the 14-blade aperture, which ensures a circular aperture opening, it has a second aperture element with an apodization filter (APD) with 8 blades. This APD element is reminiscent of a gray filter in its function, which becomes denser towards the outside and continuously reduces the light transmission towards the edge. This allows a soft, natural and beautiful diffuse blur outside the focal plane (bokeh) to be set on a separate ring. The high-quality metal housing houses 11 elements in 8 groups with 1 HFR (high refractive index) element, 3 LD (low scattering) elements and 1 APD (apodization) element. This optical design produces photos with extremely high sharpness and minimal chromatic aberration. The aperture and focus are set manually.
Tip: When using the APD filter to adjust the bokeh effect, the normal aperture ring should remain open (f/2.0).
